Real time Length of NBA Games in the Playoffs

NBA Playoffs are over so it’s time for a follow-up to post about real-time duration of games in the last regular season with Average Length of NBA games in the Last 5 Playoffs.

Again I’ll start with some curiosities…
The longest game of that period lasted 3 hours and 56 minutes!
It was a triple-overtime thriller between Bulls and Celtics in 2009.
This year’s classic between Thunder and Grizzlies was second on the list with 3 hours and 52 minutes.

The shortest game of that period lasted 2 hours and 4 minutes:
Mavs destroyed Spurs on April 23, 2009 which was 7 days earlier than the longest game ;-)

Average Length of one game in 2011 Playoffs was 153,79 minutes,
Average Duration of one game in 2010 Post-Season was 156,12 minutes,
Average Length of one game in 2009 Playoffs was 156,68 minutes,
Average Duration of one game in 2008 Post-Season was 155,37 minutes,
Average Length of one game in 2007 Playoffs was 153,45 minutes.

So in 2011 games in the playoffs were around 15,6 minutes longer than in regular season
while in 2010 they were almost 17 minutes longer than in regular season.

Finally, here’s a team breakdown for real-time duration of NBA games in the last 5 post-seasons:
