What was unique in NBA on May 18th and 19th?

20 May

Since I started analysing box scores regularly for FB in 2004 I was surprised how often unique stat-lines occurred and it’s a series designed to celebrate that fact. The rules are simple: it has to be something that never happened in the last 20 playoffs [over 1500 games] and less than 25 times during last 25 regular season games [there were over 55000]. Incidentally it’s a tribute to Basketball-Reference.com for great tools.

In Game 2 of Western Conference Finals http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201105190DAL.html
Jason Kidd had 5 steals, 7 assists, 3 threes and only 1 turnover and 1 foul.

So… how many more years will he stuff stat sheets like that?

Jose Barea had 11 points with 3 threes and 4 assists but he played only 16 minutes.

He continues his amazing run in limited minutes but he wasn’t even the best story about reserves because…

James Harden had 4 threes, 4 assists, 2 steals, 7 rebounds and 0 turnovers AS A RESERVE.

Seriously OKC, please play this guy more minutes… or we will have Manu Ginobili part 2 ;-)

In Wednesday’s game http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201105180CHI.html
Chicago Bulls couldn’t hit an ocean with FG%<35%, 3P%<15%, FT%<62% and committed 25 fouls.

The same thing happened to 12 teams during last 25 RS. Proof on BRef’s Game Finder.
Obviously they lost but it’s surprising they played at home. Huge props for Heat’s defense.
